Upcoming Clinics

NWRA will be hosting two clinics in 2010 and has extended the invitation to WRHA members to attend. The first clinic will be March 6th with Doug Stroud at Stroud Ranch in Snohomish. The second clinic is the always popular and HIGHLY recommended Judging Clinic with Matt Livengood on April 24th in Stanwood. Congratulations to Kevin Montgomery

Congratulations to Kevin Montgomery on his purchase of Pardee Pine, a 4 year old mahogany bay stallion by Great Red Pine. “Pardee” was shown by Pete Kyle at the NRHA Futurity in Oklahoma City in 2009, and will be in training with Darren Stancik at Paradise Stables. Good luck to Kevin in the non pro classes and Darren in the open classes with Pardee in 2010. We look forward to seeing you in the show pen.
2009 Loot for Grassroots Finals--SWEEP!

Congratulations to Ryann McKinzie on her clean sweep of the Loot for Grassroots Level 1 through 4 with RU Missin Diamonds. Ryann marked a 219 going last in a very deep finals. Reserve champ was Shelby St. Hilaire with NQH Little Jac, 217.5. Rounding out the top three was another familiar face from the WRHA shows, Kylie Nicklous riding Gettin Magnumtized, scoring 216.5. Way to go ladies!
2009 Loot for the Grassroots

Congratulations to Ryann McKinzie and RU Missin Diamonds on their Loot for the Grassroots win at the Denver International Reining Festival yesterday. On a horse also trained by WRHA Professional Cory Hutchings, Samantha Bayer took 2nd on Please Nic...ker. Ryann was in the money on her two other horses, Whiztacular and Almond Bark Chic, along with additional WRHA competitors Shelby St. Hilaire on NQH Little Jac, Kylie Nicklous on Gettin Magnumtized, and Sally Hoppe on Shadownics. The show continues through this weekend, with INP and LNP Loot for the Grassroots finals still to come.
Mile High Derby 2009

Gloria Woods and her nice horse Plus Half won three divisions of the Mile High Derby at the International Reining Festival in Denver this week. They led the Level 3, Level 2 and Level 1 Non Pro divisions with a 143 1/2, as well as being reserve champions in the Level 4. Winnings included a Morrison, a pewter and a nice chunk of cash! Congratulations Gloria!

Val Watson is the proud new owner of Chocolate Kiss Olena, a Chocolate Chic Olena filly out of Tee Cee Ricky Sue (by Taris Catalyst). Sound familiar? “Sissy” is a full sister to Sweet Chocolate Chic, “Sweetie”, a lifetime competitor in WRHA with Val and former owner Tracy Lewis. Congratulations Val, we look forward to seeing you and Sissy in the show pen!
Loot for the Grassroots 2008

WRHA was well represented at the 2008 NRHA Derby in Oklahoma City: Marilyn Fleek's Wiz N Lena Jack tied for 5th in the Intermediate Open; and Non Pros Ryann McKinzie and Almond Bark Chic placed 5th in the Youth Non Pro; Carlie McKinzie and Mr Moth Money won the Youth Non Pro and placed 14th in the Non Pro; Kylie Nicklous and Gettin Magnumtized Placed 2nd in Limited Non Pro, 6th in Intermediate Non Pro, and 11th in Non Pro; Gina Wigen and Uno Hickory Chex placed 3rd in Prime Time Non Pro; and Allison Solid and West Coast Smarty placed 4th in Limited Non Pro.
